what you need to know before your appointment:
Please make sure to fill out the forms before your appointment and come to your appointment with clean skin. The appointment should be approximately 2 hours in total (depends how much we chat). I will provide you with some post-care, but if you don't have a super gentle cleanser I will have some for purchase, or you can always use something like Cetaphil or CeraVe, if you have that on hand.
what’s the innopen?
I use the Innopen which offers the safest method of collagen induction therapy on the market. InnoPen is part of a family of “skin-friendly” products based upon the “mesotherapy” concept. InnoPen doesn’t burn your skin (IPL/laser), dissolve it (chemical peels), or abrade and scrape it (dermabrasion). InnoPen gently stimulates your skin with 13 very fine “bristles” that encourage natural collagen production. Collagen is what your body produces to keep your skin healthy.
The total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin, the depth of repair process required, and how aggressive the treatment is performed. Most patients have some slight swelling, heat and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-3 days. Some patients may heal completely in 24 hours.
Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen 2-3 days following their InnoPen treatment depending on the area and type of treatment performed. Although the number of sessions can vary, most people need three to eight sessions for optimal results.
Post-service instructions:
First 24 Hours:
Do not apply make up the same day of treatment
Use tepid water to cleanse the treatment area thoroughly while gently massaging to remove debris. Carefully pat dry, without rubbing.
Days 1-3:
Clean your face with a gentle cleanser and apply the recommended facial lotions and topical products.
Be sure to apply sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure.
Do NOT apply chemical based and/or fragrance cosmetics, skin care products, or make up. Avoid make-up 72hrs if possible 48hrs minimum
Days 4-7:
Within the first week of your procedure, you’ll notice skin dryness and possible flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells.
During this period, you may apply your regular skin moisturizer, sunscreen, or make-up (if necessary).
Slight micro-bruising may appear around the eye for up to 3-4 days. This can easily be covered up with make-up.
Additional Tips for Optimum Results:
Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7-10 days post treatment. Absolutely no tanning beds.
Apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB, chemical-free sunscreen with SPF 30+, designed for post cosmetic procedures. I have a wonderful option available for purchase if needed.
No vigorous exercising or activity for at least 48 hours post treatment. Sweating and gym environments can be harmful due to bacteria exposure and may cause adverse reactions.
Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, or public pools for at least 48 hours following the treatment.
Avoid use of topical sensitizing drugs, skincare products, or cosmetics that contain acids at least 3-7 days after treatment.
Avoid alcohol-based toners for 10-14 days.
Use post-procedure skincare products prescribed by your practitioner to soothe, calm, and protect the skin until fully recovered and ready for your normal skincare regimen.
Possible Short-term Side Effects & Complications:
Erythema (moderate redness similar to sunburn)
Skin tightness and dryness
Minor peeling or exfoliation
Mild sensitivity (stinging and/or itching sensations)
Hyperpigmentation or darkening of the skin
Edema (swelling)
Cutaneous eruptions
Allergic reactions
Infection
